ABOUT ME!
On paper, I’ve been working under the names of Graphic Designer, Web Designer, Visual Designer, Digital Marketing Designer, Front End Designer, UI Designer, Conversion Optimization (A/B Testing) Specialist. The technical names may have shifted a lot but if exists in the 2D space I’ve probably designed something for it at one point or another!
More often than not I tend to favor clean design based on principles of the Bauhaus school, with a huge focus on thoughtful typography and balanced use of negative space. However, I’m also a huge fan of abstract expressionism and gestural drawing as well. Sometimes, depending on what the piece calls for you might see that creep in to my work as well.
I also have spent a fair amount of time honing my skills as a front end developer. Being a designer involves constantly solving visual puzzles which translates well into solving these puzzles behind the scenes. You must instill a thoughtful functionality of a dynamic piece to serve the ultimate purpose of communicating your intent.
The internet has changed our lives a lot these days but the need for good design has not diminished. Trends come and go, and certain methods get favored over others but the fundamentals of design will always be needed to communicate in an effective and beautiful way.
I’m also a long-time musician and aspiring sound design. Its so much a part of my life at this point that almost nothing I create isn’t inspired or informed by it somehow. I’ve played in dozens of bands and projects, either as leader or collaborator, doing everything from straight up rock & roll to complete free-form improvisation.
